Q4 2023: AI is gaining traction in M&D
The most recent edition of the M&D M&A report, written by Helana Robbins Huddleston and Technology+ leader Shawn Gilronan, delved into how more M&D companies are turning to AI and machine learning to gain a competitive edge. This trend plus the closing of a large number of “mega deals” happening in the industry in 2023 means that those who aren’t already investing in automation and technologies, and other ways to compete with larger businesses, will have some hurdles to jump.

Team Expansion
Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) Advisory
CohnReznick has expanded our Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) Advisory practice to help clients navigate financial due diligence processes and the complexities of M&A transactions. We provide highly tailored services and advise clients on how to avoid disputes. Andrew Still has joined the SPA team which is led by Laura Kobes. In addition, on a post-transaction basis, CohnReznick continues to assist clients in resolving disputes related to working capital adjustments, contingent purchase price (“earn-out”) calculations, indemnification claims, breach of warranty claims, and more.
Tech Industry
Our technology focus has expanded with the hiring of Greg Mochizuki in our San Francisco office. Greg is focused on our reach across upper middle market private equity firms and acquisitive companies and advises clients on software and tech-sector transactions. His experience advising C-suite executives and private equity leaders on sell-side M&A and capital raising strategies has enhanced our capabilities to better support marquee Bay Area brands.
Operational Diligence and Performance Improvement Services
Developing our Operations Due Diligence (ODD) and Performance Improvement (PI) capabilities at CohnReznick continues to be a strategic imperative for the firm. Jeff Wissink, Principal – Performance Improvement, has joined the Transaction Advisory team to leverage buy and sell-side opportunities and augment our service offering to allow our clients to optimize their performance.
